Administrative Assistant

Career Transitions offers training for an entry level position as an administrative assistant. Course work focuses on gaining skills in customer service; familiarity and proficiency in computer applications, oral and written communication, office tasks and procedures, use of phone and office machines (copy, printers, fax etc.), inventory, scheduling, records management, filing, and record keeping. The Administrative Assistant training places special emphasis on computer literacy including basic Microsoft® Office software: Word, Google Docs, Dropbox, and Excel along with computer safety. Student will also gain familiarity with PowerPoint, and Publisher (used for creating and updating documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and databases). The course will also include job readiness and job search strategies.

Graduates should qualify for employment opportunities in a variety of entry level office positions in business, government and industry. The successful administrative assistant may advance to office management, office finance and executive administrative assistance, among other options.
